Taste of Three One Cafe

Review 1:
This reasonably priced breakfast and lunch spot (and supper up until 5:30 pm) in downtown Lisbon St. Lewiston, has become very busy since opening early 2009. I go there at least once a month. Owner/operator Chef Mohamed Mohamed has worked at Naraganset Inn and at St. Mary's Hospital's dining facilities in the past. "I like to use fresh vegetables" he notes, and is usually garbed in a chef's jacket. He particularly prides himself in healthy, good-tasting take-out, for which he's starting a new line of soups. Clean and welcoming though often crowded (sometimes there's a table free behind the cash register area). You can get complete chicken, and beef dishes with Somali spices, or expand out into fish or goat. Pictures of the foods and prices are posted on the wall, but English is spoken here too. No alcohol, but try the hot, sweet spiced and milky Somali tea "Sha", or some Ethiopian coffee. Friendly service, family operation.

Review 2:
This is the best dining value around- delicious homemade food, large portions, and reasonable prices (more like a steal). I eat there at least twice a week for either lunch or dinner and am never disappointed. If you want to dine in, you may have to wait for a seat because the restaurant only seats 15. However, take out is available. I love spice and Three One really hits the spot every time.
