This is a quick brainstorm of popular sledding locations. If you know of more hills let us know!

1. Pineland Farms - www.pinelandfarms.org/recreation/index.htm - New Gloucester - 688-4539 - They have a FABULOUS sledding hill out back by their dairy operation. Pineland Farms has a designated sledding hill that is great and also offers a host of other winter activities - x-c skiing, skating ponds, and a soup and sandwich shop too!

2. Bates College - Lewiston - The foot of Mt. David on Mountain Avenue near College Street, behind the new dorm. Steep and fast with a lot of trees if you start high up, but more gentle if you start closer to the bottom

3. Holy Family Church - Lewiston - Behind Holy Family Church on Sabattus Street is a good place...safe and maybe good for younger children

4. Pierce Street Park - Lewiston - Pierce Street Park has 4 good runs - 1 is incredibly steep and fast, 1 a bit more mellow at the beginning and ends with a nice drop, 1 is a bit easier but does involve ducking under a tree, and the last one is very easy and mellow - good for younger kids or older people who don't like going fast. All of the runs are short. Pierce Street Park is located behind buildings on Birch Street between Bartlett and Blake Streets. Most of the runs start on Blake Street, across the street from Moe's Styling at 231 Blake Street.

5. Pettengill Park - website - Auburn - Has a couple of good hills

Franklin Pasture - Lewiston - There are at least 2 runs, but probably more. 1 is short and nice (goes towards the bike path), the other is much longer and not too steep - going down from the top of the hill towards the Longley playground -- it is a nice gentle run. We haven't checked out the birch street side of the hill, but there are probably runs there as well. Franklin Pasture is behind the Longley School at Birch Street and Marcotte Ave.

7. Albert's Hill - Lisbon - Amazing hill and great parking. Slower paths for the little ones and jumps for the more daring. Great hill! Next to the Lisbon Credit Union (325 Lisbon Street, Lisbon)
