Remember When Cafe
Review 1:
I checked out the new cafe, called "Remember When..." where Nothing But the Blues used to be (on College St. near corner of Sabbatus). Brenda, co-owner with her daughter and son-in-law, just graduated from chef school, and is dedicated to cooking home-made meals, from fresh ingredients and from scratch. There are baked goods, coffee, free wi-fi, and a good breakfast menu. Lunch and dinner specials change daily (she says there will be vegetarian options eventually, and welcomes suggestions and recipes).
Hours: 6:30 AM (!!!) to 8 PM. Bates students have already discovered her terrific brownies (she's only been open 3 days) and coffee. Soon there will be a website posting the daily specials. She also delivers and does catering. It's a family- and friend-owned business, lovely folks, and it would be nice if they could stay in business :-) . Check them out!

Review 2:
We went last night and had a nice meal like Mom would cook. Had a good conversation with Brenda about veggie options--suggested multiple dishes that she seemed excited about trying. I complimented her dinner rolls, which are delicious, straight from your grandma's oven, and worth a trip even if a menu of simple home-style cooking doesn't much interest you.

I was there today and had the best chili and cornbread - and at a reasonable price, too.
