Good service. Good salad. Good pie.

Nice weather Tuesday afternoon had me in a mood for pizza. I haven’t been sticking to my running routine the past few weeks, so I thought possibly adding a salad to the meal might assuage my guilt.

The Pizza Market at 190 Lake St. in Auburn happened to be on my driving route and I’d never been there, so I decided to try it.

The menu is sizeable with numerous subs and salads, and several options for oversized pizzas. The standard small pie at most pizza joints is 10 inches; at the Pizza Market, it’s 12 inches.

Ordering the salad was easy; Greek all the way. I’m a big fan of feta cheese and Greek dressing.
I chose the Pizza Market special, sans onions. Pepperoni, ham, sausage, mushrooms - fresh ones - tomatoes and green peppers made this pizza as tasty as it was filling.

Had I not opted for the namesake pizza, the chicken ranch and Greek weretwo other considerations. There were also sides like buffalo wings that come in 10, 24, 36, and 50 pieces, jalapeño poppers and spicy cheese fries.

Don’t be fooled by the small interior of this pizza store; what it lacks in space and ambiance it makes up for and then some in tasty food.

The staff is friendly and willing to answer questions. After paying, I went out to my car to make a few phone calls as I waited. It was a pleasant surprise when my salad and pizza were brought out to me, though I don’t expect curbside service every time I stop in.

Weekly lunch specials are two slices of cheese pizza and a soda for $4.50, or two slices of pepperoni pizza with a soda for $5.50. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday’s all-day special is a free two-liter soda with any large one-topping pizza.

Parking is scarce and the intersection slows maneuvering back into traffic, but these minor inconveniences are well worth the food and service.

Delivery, in a limited area, is available with a $6 minimum order.
